What is FACTICE ?
Factice, also known as Vulcanized Vegetable Oil, is a multifunctional bio-based polymer. It is manufactured from unsaturated vegetable oils and can be used as a responsible alternative to many fossil-based additives used in Rubber and TPE compounds like mineral plasticizers, fossil processing aids.
Lefrant Rubco’s factices can be classified into 2 types : sulphur factice and sulphur and chlorine-free factice.
We have long experience in producing factices and supplying the global market. 90% of our annual production is for exportation. All our factices are produced in our plant in France today. However, we have stock in many countries in cooperation with our distributors to guarantee the quick supply.

Their bio-based content is between 65% to 100% depending on the grade.

A Non-extractable softner
Contrary to traditional plasticizers, Factice is :
- Non-blooming
- Non-extractable
As a partial replacement for plasticizer in a compound, it reduces hardness without risk of migration. Thus, it will help maintaining compound flexibility overtime and increasing durability of finished product even under difficult service conditions. This can be helpful to meet standard migration testing and solve blooming issues.

A Solid Processing aid
It will provide you substantial savings during the mixing steps :
- Lower energy-consumption due to reduced mixing temperature
- Reduce heat build-up and risk of scortch
- Reducing mixing time due to better dispersion of fillers and reclaimed rubber.
- Easier sheeting on 2-roll mills
Factice can be used for all kind of process (extrusion, calendering, molding). The unique behaviour of factice to flow easily under pressure and return immediately to its initial state when pressure is removed provides many advantages to the uncured compound during process.
Factice is an essential additive for extrusion and calendering process :
– Improve dimensional stability of uncured rubber
– Reduce die swell and shrinkage
– Increase extrusion rate
Factice can also bring many advantages during molding process :
– Reduce cold flow
– Improve mold fill and flow injection. As a consequence, burrs and rejection rate can be reduced.
– Improve mold release and prevent the mold from becoming dirty

A Surface Modifier
Factice will provide a unique smooth and velvety surface & pleasant touch feeling to your finished product. Even for low hardness compounds, in which oil rate is high, the surface won’t be greasy or shiny.

Dynamic flex-craking resistance improvement
According to De Mattia tests results, using small dosage of factice will make reduce the crack growth of compound submitted to repeated bending and extension thus increase the durability of the finished product.
